Day 7 – Amazon Gets Exposed to the Kama Sutra

She’s been dying to try some new tricks (wink wink), which is probably why she had to beg me to take her to India. Now I know why.

After breakfast we said good bye to the Ganges, not a moment too soon. Over a million devotees were descending on the place for a mass bathing the next day, and the place was filling up!

From the airport, it was a short 40 minute hop to Khajuraho. We checked in at the lovely Lalit Temple View Hotel.

In the afternoon we were met by our driver and guide for a short trip to the famous western group of temples. Our guide wanted to ensure that we fully understood the significance of the temples and their extremely detailed sculptures, before drawing our attention to the rather racy and graphic nature of their content. Amazon was enthralled. Not only did they depict soldiers marching off to war, they depicted activities when back home as well as insight as to what they did when they missed their loved ones while on the road. I’ll let the pictures below tell the story.

Upon returning back to the hotel, Amazon seemed unusually anxious to get dinner over and get some sleep. I, on the other hand, was less enthusiastic. I am not the acrobat I used to be, so I prolonged the evening as long as possible, even hanging back to watch a puppet show while she “went to bed”.

By the time I got to the room, my plan had worked. She was sound asleep.
